Twist
The double strand twist is similar to a braid, two sections of hair are used instead of three. The difference between them is that the twist looks fuller than the comb twist. There are two ways of twisting the hair; flat twist, which looks like cornrows and lays flat along your scalp and the individual twist, which is like a braid and extends out from the scalp and can give you more versatility with daily styling. Locs may be started by using the individual twist. Once the hair is twisted, it should be left for 4-6 weeks before your next shampoo. After shampooing, the hair will appear shorter, as the magic of locing begins. If you do not want your hair to loc, use a natural astrigent to do scalp cleaning for another 4-6 weeks. Then I recommend that you have your twisted style re-done and deep treated. When you decide to twist your hair, time and patience will be necesary. The amount of time that it will take to twist an entire head, depends on the length and texture of your hair. It usually takes up to three hours to do an average head of twists. Your twist may require bi-weekly maintainance.
For the best end results, I prefer to twist the hair while it is still wet, using an all natural, none drying gel. Remember, a deep herbal hair rinse treatment is recommended to maintain the moisture, minerals and health of your hair.
