Born in Barbados, West Indies; Yendys was 15 years old when she fell in love with caring for hair. She graduated from Wilfred Academy of Hair And Beauty Culture in 1984 as a licensed cosmetologist. She gain professional hair care experience by working in several Brooklyn salons. After the birth of her first daughter in 1986, she decided to work from home. During her time at home, Yendys embarked on the study of her African history; getting a deeper understanding of the global attitudes about African people and their global and historical contribution. Her cultural and spiritual awareness inspired the idea of owning her own business and living a more natural, healthier lifestyle.
Yendys founded The Cowrie Shell Center in 1991, in East Flatbush, Brooklyn New York. The Center is a home-based business and a holistic wellness facility where Yendys combines the artistry of caring for natural hair with the ancient modalities of holistic healing, and a healthy lifestyle regimen to pamper the total person. Also known as a Natural Hair Healer; she accesses the hair, scalp and overall health of each client. Next, she shares insights on her findings and what protocol needs to be followed in order to achieve optimal health for the client as well as their hair. She has experience in working with all textures of hair. Yendys establishes a loving, supportive relationship with her clients, which gives them the confidence and the motivation needed to help themselves to achieve the results they're seeking.
